MAX LYON
Burlington

Max G. LYON of Burlington, Iowa passed away July 18, 2018 at GRMC Klein Center. Max was born April 1, 1933, on his parent's farm in Van Buren County, to Robert and Valeira SNIDER LYON. He was the youngest of six siblings and the last survivor. He married the former Doris OWENS in 1965, and they have one daughter, Elaine ROBERTS, and two grandsons, Braydon ROBERTS (and his fiancé Megan) and Kelton GRANAMAN.

Max worked for the telephone company for 42 years. He was a workaholic who could do anything including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work. He always said if you want it done right the first time you need to do it yourself. He also served in the National Guard for over 10 years. He was an avid fan and supporter of the S.C.C. Blackhawk basketball program.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Verle HALL and Bernice ALLBAUGH, and 3 brothers Raymond, Harold, and Bruce. He is survived by Doris, Elaine and her two boys and two sisters-in-law Arlene LYON and Iris LYON and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 28th at Lunning Chapel, followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Morris Hurd will officiate. Military rites will be held following the service by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery (note: in Burlington, Des Moines Co., IA).

Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and Lewy Body Dementia/ Parkinson's Disease.
