Pleasant Hill

Shirley Lou VANNATTA, age 88, of Pleasant Hill, formerly of Fairfield, passed away on June 22, 2018, in Pleasant Hill, Iowa (note: in Polk Co., IA). She was born August 15, 1929, in Fairfield to Walter and Grace BRUDERS. In 1948 Shirley married John "J.R." VANNATTA in Fairfield, where they raised their three children. Shirley and J.R. enjoyed community gatherings with neighbors and family and were members of First Christian Church in Fairfield.

Shirley is survived by her two children, John "Jeff" (Judy) VANNATTA and Paula (John) ROLOFF; five grandchildren, Brian (Staci) VANNATTA, Erin (Jeff) BURNS, Katherine ROLOFF, John ROLOFF, and Jeff ROLOFF; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her son, David; and her three sisters: Ruth CHERRY, Dorothy CHAMP, and Eleanor SIMPSON.

A graveside service is planned for Friday, June 29 at 4:00 in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, with her family greeting friends in Chautauqua Park following the service. Memorial donations in memory of Shirley can be made to Evergreen Cemetery or First Christian Church. Memorials and condolences can be sent care of Paula ROLOFF, 4810 Caldwell Ct, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327.
