Stanley Charles Peters
February 21, 2005Stanley Charles Peters, 71, of 1005 W. Burlington Ave., died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Greenwood Manor in Iowa City.
A memorial gathering will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the home of Kay Michener, 507 W. Washington Ave.
Memorials may be made to the Oharma Foundation, 2280 W. Tyler Ave., Fairfield 52556.
Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Peters was born Nov. 22, 1933, in Melrose Park, Ill., the son of Charles Arthur and Esther Abel Peters.
He received a bachelor of science degree in physics education, completed work for a doctorate degree in experimental psychology at the University of Illinois, Urbana and was certified in data processing from the Data Processing Management Association.
From 1963 to 2004, he was a contract programmer/analyst and from 1990 to 1997, he was a computer service technician at Maharishi International University.
He was a member of the Transcendental Meditation community in Fairfield since 1989.
His pastimes included setting up computers for his friends, repairing old computers, bicycling and photography.
Survivors include one sister, Sally Yauch of Sierra Vista, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
