BILL TURNER
Fairfield

Bill TURNER went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2018, after a long battle with diabetes and heart disease.

Visitation for family & friends will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Friday, May 11, 2018, at Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, 200 N. Main Street with Pastor Monte Knudsen & Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at Evergreen Cemetery following the service.

A memorial has been established in Bill's name. Cards and memorials can be mailed to 505 South E Street, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

He was born in Ft. Riley, Kansas on January 7, 1949. He was raised in Fairfield, Iowa alongside his brothers Dick, Jim, John, and Bob. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1967.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Marilyn (KITCHEN) TURNER, in 1967 and they celebrated their 50th anniversary last December. He was a loving father to Josie (Lyle) HANNES, Hillary (Phil) FAIRCHILD, and Matthew TURNER, and was a proud grandfather to Eric, Danielle, Gregory, Jacob, Ryan, Jace, Caitlyn and Teague.

He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in the 70s and was stationed in Ft. Riley, Kansas and Aschaffenburg, Germany with his family.

He was a hard worker, employed at Dexter and also tuned pianos on the side. He retired from Dexter in 2014.

Bill was a talented, self-taught guitarist with a beautiful voice. Music was the heartbeat of his life. He loved sharing his music with others and taught his children and many of his grandchildren about music. Throughout his life he played in bands of many genres, including rock, gospel, country and blues. He was involved in music ministry for over 40 years. He loved the Lord with all his heart and strived to spread His Word through love and music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Doris (HANKS) TURNER and his brother, Dick TURNER.

He was a joker with an infectious laugh. His kindness and sense of humor left a lasting impression on all those who met him. He will be greatly missed.
