Stanley L. Dimmitt
February 11, 2005Stanley L. Dimmitt, 82, of Los Lunas, N.M., and formerly of Ottumwa, died at 6:25 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at his home.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Sue Babovec officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa.
Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to hospice.
Mr. Dimmitt was born March 8, 1922, in Canada, the son of Noble and Mary Campbell Dimmitt. He married Ita Francine Stout April 30, 1954. She died Jan. 13, 2003.
He served in the Air Force during the Koren conflict.
Prior to moving to Ottumwa in 1982, he lived in California. He moved to New Mexico in 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Lee Dimmitt of Fairfield and Neil Dimmitt of Los Lunas; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Watters of Fontana, Calif., and Jean Mullen of Des Moines; three brothers, Robert Dimmitt of Agency, Kenneth Dimmitt of Washington state and Colin Dimmitt of Lancaster, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-granddaughter; and one brother, Wayne Dimmitt.
