ALICE M. FERRELL
Fairfield

Alice M. FERRELL age 89 of Fairfield, passed away April 2, 2018, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center.

A celebration of life service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Fairfield, with Pastor John Kermott officiating. According to Alice's wishes her body has been cremated. Burial of cremains will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018, at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church or HCI Hospice Care Services of Mt. Pleasant, IA. Cards and memorials can be sent to: Lynn FERRELL, 7909 Maple Dr., Urbandale, Iowa 50322.

Alice was born November 13, 1928, to John Earl and Hazel Elizabeth (HENDRICKS) KANE. She married James L. FERRELL on October 16, 1949 in Fairfield. He died April 12, 1989. They celebrated 39 years of marriage before he died. To this marriage was born Lynn, Mary, and Lea Ann.

Alice spent all her life in Jefferson County, she graduated from Fairfield High School class of 1947. Alice was a homemaker and a cook for Pence Elementary School. She enjoyed cooking, reading and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alice was a member of First Baptist Church, ABWM, Maxine Bates Circle, Bon Appetit club, served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church.

She also voluteered for many years for the Democratic party. She truly enjoyed having her sister Dorothy SCHENK life with her from 1990 until Dorothy's death in 2014. Left to share Alice's memories are her children, Lynn (Lydia) FERRELL of Urbandale, IA, Mary (Paul) ENGELKES of Grundy Center, IA., and Lea Ann (Joe) FALK of Marshalltown, IA; two grandchildren, Evan (Kate) ENGELKES and Gretchen FALK, (Ellis Fenske); 3 great grandchildren, Daxton, Makenzie, and Gavin; siblings, Lee KANE of Urbandale and Janyce RODENMAYER-GANDERS of Oregon; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alice was preceded in dath by her husband, Jim; her parents, Earl and Hazel; two brothers, Leonard (Sugar) KANE and Les KANE; 4 sisters, Kathryn SHAW, Dorothy SCHENK, Helen BLUE and Ruth Ann STEVENS; and grandson, Nathan ENGELKES.
