Mrs. CORNELL, 69, Taken In Death

Mrs. Ray CORNELL, 69, lifetime resident of Jefferson county, died Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County hospital where she had been seriously ill since Dec. 15.

Mrs. CORNELL resided at 106 E. Briggs. She had made her home in Fairfield for 45 years.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home. Rites will be conducted by the Rev. J. Roland Crandall. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. CORNELL was the former Zella Mae FUQUA. She was born June 6, 1892 at Pleasant Plain, the daughter of Frank and Sylvia NORTON FUQUA. She was married to Ray W. CORNELL March 20, 1920.

Mr. and Mrs. CORNELL were active in the grocery business for many years. Mrs. CORNELL was a member of the First Methodist church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of World War I Auxiliary and Hawkeye Rebekah Lodge No. 386.

She is survived by her husband and two sisters, Mrs. Hazel BONNETT, Ottumwa; and Mrs. Elsie RICKERD, Fairfield. One brother is deceased.

All Rebekahs will gather at the funeral home to attend services for Mrs. CORNELL.

World War I Groups Meet

Elections of officers were held for the World War I barracks and auxiliary, when they met Monday night for a joint meeting and cooperative supper.

During the joint meeting, a memorial was held for Mrs. Ray CORNELL, who was a charter member and the first member of the organization to pass away. Mrs. C. L. Glass gave the tribute to her. ...
