E. W. TRACY—By Oregon papers just received, we learn that this gentleman died at Astoria, of consumption, on the 13th of July. His wife was formerly a resident of this place – her name being MARY JANE SHUFFLETON, daughter of COL. SHUFFLETON. She went to Oregon a number of years ago, while a young lady, and was there married. At the time of his death MR. TRACY was 39 years of age. He was an active and energetic citizen, and in 1858 was an overseer and agent of Wells, Fargo & Co.’s Express, and established the first express through the interior of Oregon and the adjoining territories. One of the papers from which we gather the above facts, says, “his acquaintances with the business community of this coast was more extended than that of almost any other man, on account of his strict business habits. His numerous friends will grieve his loss, and condole with his widow and children in this their hour of trouble.” His remains were buried by the Masons, of which order he was an exemplary member. MR. TRACY has left his family in very comfortable circumstances, pecuniarily.
