Una R. Cornick, 95, of Indianola and formerly of Fairfield, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Mercy Capitol in Des Moines.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

Visitation will be held from noon-1:30 p.m. Tuesday prior to services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Fund at The Village in Indianola.

Mrs. Cornick was born Dec. 9, 1909, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Nina Bartholomew Smith. She married Cloyd Cornick.

She was a 1928 graduate of Washington High School and of Parsons College.

She was a retired elementary teacher and had taught in Henry and Jefferson counties for more than 30 years.

She had been a resident of The Village in Indianola for the past five years, previously living in Fairfield for 50 years.

Mrs. Cornick was a lifetime member of the Iowa State Education Association, and a member of the United Methodist Church in Fairfield, TTT, the Fairfield Women's Club, Daughters of American Colonists, and the Fairfield Genealogy Society.

Survivors include her husband of Indianola; one son, James Cornick and wife Sue of Des Moines; five grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Josephine Mottet; her parents; one brother, Fredric Smith; and two sisters, Esther Poats and Jean Smith.
