Page 1, col. 3.ALFRED WEBB, well known to Jefferson County people, died at his home in Mt. Ayr last Friday. During the war he served in Co. M, 4th Iowa Cavalry. He lived for many years in this county.....

OLD CITIZEN PASSES AWAY. Death of A. G. WEBB occurs at his home in this city on Saturday. ALFRED G. WEBB, one of the old citizens of this city, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 1906. He had reached the ripe age of 70 years, 6 months and 15 days.....MR. WEBB was born near McMinnville, Tennessee, October 13, 1835. In 1849 he moved with his mother, brother and four sisters to Jefferson County, Iowa. Here he spent many years of his life. He was the last surviving member of his mother’s family. On April 3, 1859 he was married to MISS LUCETTA CRENSHAW and to them six children were born, one of them dying in infancy. The remaining ones are MRS. N. L. DONAHOE of Des Moines, S. A. WEBB of California, JOHN of Alaska, W. D. WEBB of Peabody, Kan., and MRS. ED FERBER of Mt. Ayr.....
MR. WEBB served his country faithfully during the Civil War. He was justly proud of his soldier life. He was a member of Co. M of the 4th Iowa Cavalry, and made a first-class trooper. No one ever questioned his boldness and bravery. MR. WEBB moved with his family to Ringgold County in the spring of 1876 and has since lived in the county. The family lived several years on their farm in Poe township. He has spent recent years in retirement in Mt. Ayr. He was a charter member of the Ellis C. Miller Post of the G. A.R. of this city.....Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
