FairfieldWilliam L. GRUNWALD, age 76 of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics (note: in Iowa City, Johnson Co., IA).

FairfieldWilliam "Bill" Louis GRUNWALD age 76 of Fairfield passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospital & Clinic.
Visitation for family & friends will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday, February 9, 2018, at First Lutheran Church and 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm prior to the funeral service at 4:00 pm, Saturday, February 10, 2018 at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Friedrich officiating. Military rites will follow the service at the church. After the service he will be cremated. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
Memorials can be made to Noah's Ark Animal Shelter or First Lutheran Church. Cards and memorials can be mailed to: Sue GRUNWALD, 1011 Southview Drive, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.
Bill was born August 5, 1941, in Milwaukee, WI to Gilbert and Charlotte (HUBER) GRUNWALD. He married Susan "Sue" AIKEN on August 23, 1969. This last year they celebrated 48 years of marriage.
Bill graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School. He lived most of his life in the Wisconsin area. In 2011 he and Susan moved to Fairfield. Bill served in the Army during Desert Storm. He worked 35 years for AAA as a senior inspector. Bill liked to bake and was known as "Baker Bill".
He volunteered at Noah's Ark Animal Shelter and helped at the senior center doing "Meals on Wheels". Bill was a big Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. Most important to Bill was spending time with his grandkids and supporting them in their extra-curricular activities. He loved to spend summers with the family at Broken Bow Lake in Lac du Flambeau, WI. Bill was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Fairfield, IA.
Left to share Bill's memories are his wife, Sue; two children, John (Heidi) GRUNWALD of Fairfield, IA and Heidi (Chad) KILLERLAIN of Marshall, WI; 5 grandchildren, Haley GRUNWALD, Drew GRUNWALD, Blair GRUNWALD, Tristan KILLERLAIN and Quinn KILLERLAIN; one sister, Carla (Joel) BRETZMAN of Kewaskum, WI; and nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
