WaylandLois Lorraine WATSON, 92, of Wayland Iowa died January 13, 2018, at her home following a battle with pancreatic cancer. The funeral service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, Germanville Iowa at 11:00 AM on Wednesday January 17, 2018, with Pastor Ryan Dexter officiating.
Burial will follow at Hope Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation opens at Gould Funeral Home in Richland at 4:00 PM on Tuesday Janauary 16, with family present from 6 to 7:30 PM. Memorials can be made to Hope Lutheran Church or HCI Hospice Care Services. These may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 3270 Ginkgo Ave Brighton, Iowa 52540.
Lois WATSON was born on March 21, 1925, to Roy and Ila BURGER ESHELMAN in Lockridge Township, Jefferson County Iowa. Lois earned her teaching certificate and taught school in rural Jefferson County. She was the teacher for Mohawk, Polishville and Sharp's Corner country schools teaching grades primary to 8th grade.
Lois married Cloyd WATSON on the November 16, 1948, at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville. They made their home of 53 years in Rubio, Iowa until they moved to Wayland, Iowa in July of 2001.
She was an active member of the Rubio Ladies Club while being a homemaker and working at the Jefferson County Hospital for 13 ½ years. Lois was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school for many years. Her strong Christian faith was very evident in how she lived her daily life.
Lois always loved spending time with her family. While her grandson's (sic) were in college she would faithfully write letters of encouragement once a week. She was always a delicious baker and enjoyed sharing all her "goodies" with her friends and family. In her spare time she enjoyed embroidery, reading good books, and puzzle books.
Survivirs include a son Rick WATSON and wife Loni of Richland. A daughter Cindy GUY and husband Danny of Brighton and two grandsons Andy and Adam GUY also of Brighton. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cloyd in 2007, and one brother Alva Gene ESHELMAN.
