We failed to notice at the time the death of an excellent citizen of Whitfield, that of MR. JOHN P. RONAN, which occurred on the 6th day of January….He was 48 years old, having been born in County Galway, Ireland, in 1838. In 1862 he was married in the state of New York to the loving companion who still survives him, and in 1869 they removed to this county, where they have since lived. About four years ago he moved to Whitfield. Since then MRS. RONAN has been sorely afflicted, losing her eldest son, a most excellent young man, by an accident on the railroad at Mt. Pleasant some two years ago, and now has her husband taken from her. Seven children remain, four boys and three girls, the oldest of the children a son about twenty years old. The funeral occurred on Friday, January 8th.
