Richard Lee Miller
January 28, 2005Richard Lee Miller, 75, 903 S. Fifth St., died at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Jefferson County Hospital.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
A Christian Wake service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Raymond Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 2:30-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to St. Mary Catholic Church.
Mr. Miller was born Oct. 15, 1929, in Fairfield, the son of Jake Vaulty and Ruth Carter Miller. He married Shirley A. Peck June 10, 1958, at St. Mary Catholic Church.
He was a life long resident of Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1948. He received an associate's degree in engineering while serving in the United States Navy. He served in the Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Miller was a mechanical engineer at Heston and Anderson Company in Fairfield and Louden Machinery Company (ACCO-Babcock Inc.) before his retirement.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, VFW, the Eagles Club and the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife Shirley; one daughter, Tammy Miller of Morning Sun; one son, Les Miller and wife Phyllis of Phoenix, Ariz.; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter; his parents; two sisters, Marie Cartnal and Marge Miller; and two brothers ,Bud Miller and Junior Miller.
