John W. BRIGGS

John W. BRIGGS, 80, of 1218 Sixth street SW, resident of Cedar Rapids 21 years, died at 11:50 a.m. Sunday at his home after a year's illness. Born in Germany Nov. 11, 1866, he came to the United States at the age of 15.

Employed by the Link Belt Speeder Corporation 22 years, he was a foreman at the plant until his retirement a year ago. He moved to Cedar Rapids with the company, coming from Fairfield 21 years ago.

Surviving are his wife, Adeline; seven children, Fred W., Mrs. Margaret RAUSCHER, Mrs. Florence CAVINESS and Mrs. Howard TAYLOR of Cedar Rapids, John BRIGGS and Mrs. Mabel BLACK of Lockridge, and Mrs. Mary BAURONTA of Chicago; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted in the Beatty chapel at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. P. L. Bornhoeft, and at 3 p.m. in the Lutheran church at Lockridge. Burial will be in Lockridge cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
