Harley Lawrence PECK, 77, of Stockport, IA passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Stockport United Methodist Church in Stockport, IA (note: in Van Buren Co., IA). Burial will be held in the Dibble Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Cranston Family Funeral Home (formerly Raymond Funeral Home) in Fairfield with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Harley's honor may be directed to the Dibble Cemetery or Morris Park. Harley Lawrence PECK was born May 14, 1940 in Ollie, IA to Anthony and Bertha KILBURN PECK. Harley was raised with a strong work ethic. He attended school in Fairfield and began working at a young age. During this time, he met Peggy Ann KLISE. The two quickly fell in love, and began their life together as husband and wife on June 14, 1959 in Stockport, IA. Harley was known for his skill with a backhoe and dirt work. As word quickly spread, Harley began Peck's Digging which he owned and operated for over 50 years. As the business began to grow, so did his family. Harley and Peggy became the proud parents of two children, Robin and Rodney. Harley was a hard worker and was proud of the work that he did. He cared deeply for his community and stayed active as a member of the Stockport Methodist Church, Eagles Club, Jefferson County Posse, and Van Buren Conservation Board as well as serving on the Stockport City Council and Stockport Fire Department. Harley was willing to help anyone in need and expected nothing in return. He loved the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed doing hog roasts, and the annual fish fry for large groups of family and friends. Even though these events were a lot of work, it was the time spent with family and friends preparing that he enjoyed the most. Harley was a man of his word and wasn't afraid to tell it how it was. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and those lucky enough to call him friend.

Harley was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Louise REED, Ethel MINEART, and Lucille ROGERS and four brothers, Clifford PECK, Francis PECK, Larry PECK and Harold PECK. He is survived by four sisters Marcella ATWATER of Galesburg, Il., Jo Ann ALLERDICE, Shirley MILLER, and Donna KENNEDY all of Fairfield, Ia.

Left to share his story is his loving wife, Peggy PECK of Stockport, IA two children, Robin (Jim) CAROLAN of Keosauqua, IA and Rodney (Sherry) PECK of Stockport, IA; eight grandchildren, Justin BOLEY, Jennifer CRUIKSHANK, Jamie (Jenna) BOLEY, Dana PECK, Heather (Matthew) BRIGGS, Katie (Cale) PLOWMAN, Kylie PECK, and Ryan PECK; five great grandchildren, Kaelyn CRUIKSHANK, Brayden BOLEY, Brooklyn BOLEY, Logan PLOWMAN, and Lance PLOWMAN as well as many extended family and a host of friends.
