James Richard OSBORNE was born August 22, 1947 in Hillsdale, MI to Kenneth and Martha HART OSBORNE. He spent his early years in the small town of Bankers, MI where he was a gifted athlete at Hillsdale High School. Shortly after graduation Jim joined the United States Air (sic - Air Force) where he served for 6 years as a radar technician and drill instructor. Upon completion of his service, Jim was honorably discharged and returned home. Jim loved the Lord and was attending a church function when he met the love of his life, Donna CROFF. The two dated briefly before getting married on February 23, 1974 in Los Angeles, CA. As the two began their life together, Jim attended Santa Barbara City College. They soon began their family and became loving parents to two children; Martha and Jared. Jim supported the family by putting his love and skill for gadgets and electronics to good use as a computer technician. Jim and Donna's life path during this time took them to several different states before settling in Iowa to be closer to family. They eventually made Packwood, IA their home. Donna passed away in 2011 and Jim remained at home until his health began to fail and he moved to the Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia. Jim was a big kid at heart. He loved to tease and had a great sense of humor. He paired this with a vivid imagination that he would transfer to paper as a talented writer. He always enjoyed electronics and putting together model airplanes. Throughout his life, Jim stayed close to the Lord and was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be missed by his family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna (2011); one sister, Kathy OSBORNE and one grandson, Christian LITTLE.
Left to share his story are his children, Martha "Marti" (Robin) REINIER of Ollie, IA and Jared OSBORNE of Richland, IA; five grandchildren, Amber KUNZ, Megan WICKENKAMP, Cameron LITTLE, Samaria REINIER, and Brett REINIER; three great grandchildren, Chloe KUNZ, Taira WICKENKAMP, and Tegan M'lia REINIER, as well as many extended family and friends.
