Oswald H. WITTMER, 82, retired city employe (sic), died about 2 p.m. Friday at the Batavia Rest Home where he had been a patient for the past month.
Last rites will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Wilken officiating. Burial will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery at Germanville.
Oswald H. WITTMER was born Aug. 3, 1889 in Noble, Iowa, the son of John E. and Marie KLIENER WITTMER. He was reared and educated in Noble.
He was married to Jennie LYNN in 1918 at Brighton. She passed away in August, 1940. He was later married to Laura RADLEY (sic - Laura RADLEY HAWK) Aug. 20, 1952, in Peoria, Ill. She survives. The family home is at 607 S. Fifth.
WITTMER was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Eagles Lodge (sic - Aerie/Club). He was employed by the city for a number of years before his retirement.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons; John, Iowa City, and Walter, Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one brother, Arnold WITTMER, Fairfield; and a sister, Mrs. Harry STORTZ, also of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by one brother.
