Catherine KANN, age 88 of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Sunnybrook Living Care Center.

Behner Funeral Home is helping the family with arrangements.

Mary "Catherine" KANN, age 89 of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Sunnybrook Assisted Living.

Visitation for family & friends will be 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Monday, December 4, 2017, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Beth Harbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church or Compassus Hospice. Cards and memorials can be mailed to: Kim MEEKER, 6835 Flint Rock Court, Marion, IA 52302.

Catherine was born December 9, 1927, to Clarence and Ruth (HUMPHREY) WILEY in Douds, IA. She married Donald VEHSLAGE in 1950. He passed away in 1960. Later she married Logan R. KANN on July 27, 1968. He passed away January 9, 2010.

After Catherine graduated from Parsons college she taught for 38 years before she retired in 1988. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, United Methodist Women and the First United Methodist Church. Catherine loved her family and looked forward to spending time with her family and friends.

Left to share Catherine's memories are her children, Donald "Linn" VEHSLAGE of Fairfield, IA and Kimberly MEEKER of Marion, IA; one step daughter, Carolyn (Todd) MILLER of Cantril, IA; 5 grandchildren, Lisa (Shawn) KIRBY, Brian VEHSLAGE, Lindsay (Chad) PERRIEN, Nathan (Kayla) VEHSLAGE, Abby (Andrew) HOST; two step grandchildren, Marc (Buffy) DOUGHERTY and Matt DOUGHERTY; 6 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; and one sister, Rachel KEMP of Fairfield, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruth; 1st husband, Donald VEHSLAGE; 2nd husband, Logan KANN; and one sister, JoAnn WILEY.
