Thomas L. Glass, 64, of Aurora, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, in Kenosha, Wis.

The funeral was held Sunday in Aurora.

Healy Chapel, www.healychapel.com, in Aurora was in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for an art scholarship fund.

Mr. Glass was born Sept. 16, 1940, in Washington, D.C., the son of Walter and Marion Glass.

He served in the United States Air Force.

He earned as associate degree in fire science at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill., and a diploma of management arts from Aurora University in Aurora.

Mr. Glass joined the Aurora Fire Department, retiring with the rank of captain in 1997, after 32 years.

Since retirement, he became an accomplished artist and was a demonstration potter at Blackberry Farm in Aurora.

Survivors include his wife, Hope Glass of Aurora; one son, Erik L. Glass of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, V. Lee Sterling and husband Stephen of Kenosha; one grandson; four brothers, John Glass, Robert Glass and Richard Glass, all of Fairfield, and Stephen Glass of Aurora; four sisters, Mary Alice Darr of Milton, Marta Sue Heldenberg of Parrott, Ga., Barbara Dray of Aurora and Virginia Gengler of Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William D. Glass.
