Darrell E. "Pete" PETERSON 89 of Fairfield passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.

Darrell E "Pete" PETERSON

Darrell E. "Pete" PETERSON 89, of Fairfield passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at the Word of Life Lutheran Church in Fairfield with Rev. Chris Fiske officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday after 11:00 a.m. with the family present from 12:30 until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Word of Life Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Pete was born on January 19, 1928, at Lockridge the son of Clarence L. and Myrtha V. QUICK PETERSON. He graduated from Fairfield High School in the class of 1946. He was united in marriage to his best friend and the love of his life Fayelda M. "Faye" DAVIS on September 6, 1947, in Packwood. She preceded him in death on August 19, 2016. Pete and Faye loved to travel the country roads, eating at different restaurants, going to Door County, Wisconsin and spending time with their family and friends. Pete worked for the Supply Coop of Libertyville, retiring after 30 years with the company. He attended Word of Life Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

Pete is survived by his children Julia (David) GLUECK and Karen (Roger) VORHIES; his grandchildren Chad PETERSON, Crystal (Shae) McCABE, Ryan REINIER, and Spencer VORHIES; along with his great grandchildren Peyton and Cael McCABE.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his son Douglas E. PETERSON.
