Alice Louise KESSEL, 89, of Fairfield died Thursday morning, June 29, 2017, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Welcoming Family of Faith, Community Child Care Center or Jefferson County 4-H.
Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home.
Mrs. KESSEL was born May 23, 1928, in Germanville to Jacob and Ester MILLER BURGER. She married Raymond Jacob KESSEL Jr. Jan. 30, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain. He died Jan. 9, 2008.
She grew up in the Germanville community, attended school in Germanville, Fairfield and graduated from the Pleasant Plain High School.
She was an in-home child care provider for 39 years.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Bradshaw Helping Hands, a former 4-H leader, American Legion Auxiliary and was coordinator for St. Mary Church dinners for 34 years.
Survivors include: children David (Charlotte) KESSEL, Annabelle (Jerry) SIRDOREUS, Michael (Bonnie) KESSEL, Joan (Don) SIRDOREUS, John (Kathy) KESSEL, Charles (Kathy) KESSEL; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: daughter Mary GARRETSON; one grandson; sister Irene BURGER and brother Howard BURGER.
