Jacqueline "Jackie" Marie EAKINS, 84, of Fairfield, and formerly of Batavia, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Mercy Hospice Care Unit in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cranston Family Funeral Chapel in Batavia.
Visitation opens at noon Friday, with family present 5-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contrubitions can be directed to the Shriners Children's Hospital or the Polishville Association to be used for upcoming dances. An online guestbook can be signed at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Mrs. EAKINS was born Oct. 7, 1932, in Oskaloosa to Orrie and Florence FUNK DAVIS. She married Donald Leroy EAKINS April 1, 1951, at Open Bible Church in Batavia. He died in 1993.
She grew up in the Batavia area, graduating with the Batavia High School Class of 1950.
Mrs. EAKINS spent over 40 years working at Fairfield Line Inc. while also maintaining a home for her family.
Mrs. EAKINS attended United Methodist Church in Batavia.
She enjoyed attending dances at Polishville Community Center near Brighton. She had a passion for traveling, and had been to all 50 states.
She was a hard worker, as well as a loving wife and mother. She cherished her role as grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include: sons Randy (Barbara) EAKINS of Batavia and Joe EAKINS of Eldon; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother Larry DAVIS.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: siblings, Charlotte PRATT, James DAVIS, and Jerry DAVIS.
