WEST BURLINGTON -- Thomas L. MARTIN 78 of West Burlington, Iowa passed away June 9, 2017. He was born near Glasgow, Iowa, the son of Carl and Delpha (NICHOLS) MARTIN. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School with the Class of 1957. He was an avid race car fan, with his passion being sprint cars, of which he became the owner of "The Fuber Special" built by three of his friends. He was a regular at the Knoxville Speedway and in later years with the "Old Timers Sprint Car Group" racing in Columbus Junction, Iowa, What Cheer, Davenport and various country fairground race tracks. He enjoyed feeding his feathered friends in his backyard, family and friends. He had Thanksgiving dinner with his sister Carol over the span of 50 years missing only two times. She will miss his Sunday phone calls.
He is survived by his son Jack, Granddaughter Melanie and Kate, long time partner Ann JONES, all of West Burlington, Iowa. Siblings: brothers Earl, Mitchellville, Iowa, Wayne, Toledo, Iowa. Sisters: Maxine (Jack) LITTON, Fairfield, Iowa and Carol LIBLIN NELSON, Davenport, Iowa.
Preceded in death by Sister Evelyn GORDY and his Parents. May they all be resting in peace. As per Tom's wishes no funeral service will be held however a Celebration of Life Get Together will be held at a future date at the Eagles Club in West Burlington, Iowa.
