Marion A. FERGUSON PERRY

Marion A. FERGUSON PERRY, 91, of Peoria, Arizona, and formerly of Douds, died friday, Dec. 23, 2016.

The body has been cremated. A graveside service, with the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Leando Cemetery in Douds.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is handling arrangements.

Note: An obituary for Marion was found at the Menke Funeral & Cremation Center's website (Sun City, AZ), which notes that she was born October 6, 1925, in Ottumwa, IA, the daughter of James and Edith FERGUSON. She and schoolmate Herb PERRY married in 1946 after he returned from military service in WWII. They had two children, Tom and Susan. Marion was a Girl Scout Leader for many years, a Welcome Wagon hostess, an office employee at First National Bank, director of the Mount Vernon Red Cross Chapter, office manager at H&R Block, and loved to take camping trips and road trips to Texas, the Smoky Mountains, Florida, and Arkansas. She also took several cruises with her family and loved to play bridge. She and Herb retired in 1999 and moved to Mesa, AZ. By 2011, their children had moved to AZ as well, and Marion moved into senior living apartments. Herb joined her in the Memory Care Unit within a year, where Tom and Susan visited often. Marion's ashes were interred in Leando Cemetery over Memorial Day Weekend, 2017.
