Donald Keith LEPPERT

Donald Keith LEPPERT, 87, of Knoxville and formerly of Richland, died Friday, May 19, 2017, at Hospice of Pella-Comfort House (note: in Marion Co., IA).

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church in Richland, with the Rev. Nicholas Adam officiating. Military honors will be at the church immediately following the funeral.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. today at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church in Richland, with family present 4-7 p.m. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. following visitation.

A memorial has been established to Hospice of Pella-Comfort House. Condolences can be left at www.winfieldfh.com.

Winfield Funeral Home is assisting with services.

Mr. LEPPERT was born July 27, 1929, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield to Donald William and Alice Louise KENT LEPPERT. He married Mary "Isabelle" ADAM. June 27, 1953, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

He graduated from Richland High School in 1947. He worked on the family farm and began working at Universal Producing Company in Fairfield. For a short time, he drove a school bus.

In 1951, Mr. LEPPERT served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, he continued working as a supervisor for Universal Producing Company until the 1980s when the company closed and he retired.

After retirement, the LEPPERTs spent 17 years wintering in Arizona.

His greatest pride was his family and his wife. He had great faith in the Lord and love for his country. His pastimes included gardening and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Throughout his life, Mr. LEPPERT was an active member of Mother Cabrini Catholic Church and the American Legion.

Survivors include: wife, Isabelle; children, Perry (Donna) LEPPERT of Knoxville, Deborah (Mike) CARDIN of Otley, Denise (Randy) SCHRADER of St. Joseph, Missouri, Mark (Deb) LEPPERT of Otley, and Brian (Lee) LEPPERT of Wauconda, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Jean KREWSON, Kathryn DEUTSCH, Janet LANGAN, and Judy EDDY; and brother, Kermit LEPPERT.

He was preceded in death by: his parents.
