James Paul 'Jim' POHREN

James Paul "Jim" POHREN, 72, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, at his home in Mt. Pleasant (note: in Henry Co., IA).

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, with Larry Pohren and L.T. Pohren officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery (note: also in Henry Co., IA).

Visitation begins after noon Friday at the memorial chapel, with family present 4-7 p.m.

Mr. POHREN was born March 25, 1945, at Sockum Ridge near Coppock, to Harold and Dorothy NORTON POHREN. He married Linda DEAO June 10, 1966, at Lockridge Baptist Church.

He attended rural country schools. He started his working career at a young age on the family farm and at Rauscher Feed House and driving a feed truck for Russell Rich. He worked at Parsons College as a plumber's helper and Fairfield Engineering. He then worked at JI Case in Burlington for 30-plus years as a welder and union steward, where he retired.

After retirement, Mr. POHREN helped his son Harold with his excavating business, H&P, for a short time.

Mr. POHREN's pastimes included spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, attending auctions, racing four-wheelers and attending his children and grandchildren's events and activities.

Survivors include: his wife; son, Harold (Pam) POHREN of Lowell; daughter Tammy (Corey) MUMME, of Mt. Pleasant;; (sic) brothers, John POHREN and Jack POHREN, both of Lockridge; sisters, Pat McLAIN, Joyce LeDUC, Sharon NELSON, Sue HOPPER, Sheila WESTPHAL, all of Lockridge, and Charlotte KELLER of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Glenn POHREN and Jerry POHREN; and one granddaughter.
