Rita C. HAYNES, 78, of Fairfield, died today, Monday, May 8, 2017, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

Behner Funeral Home is helping with arrangements.

Rita HAYNES, 78, of Fairfield, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Alzheimer's Association, Hospice Compassus or donor's choice. Cards and memorials can be mailed to Shirley HAYNES, 803 W. Broadway Ave., Fairfield 52556. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.behnerfh.com .

Mrs. HAYNES was born March 31, 1939, in Iowa City to Leonard Ray and Doris Francis MINSTER CARTER. She married Charles L. HAYNES March 10, 1956. He died Dec. 28, 2003.

Mrs. HAYNES took culinary classes and lived in Fairfield all her life. She worked in food services and was a caretaker at McElhinny House.

She was a member of Eagles Auxiliary No. 1927 in Fairfield.

She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, cards, watching John Wayne movies, Elvis Presley songs and movies. She collected dolls, teapots and angels. Most important to her was spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include: children, Cheryl (Charles) CRAWFORD of Bella Vista Arkansas, Shirley HAYNES of Fairfield and Skeeter (Dianna) HAYNES of Libertyville; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sister Robin ELDER of Batavia.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; brother Rickey CARTER, and two great-grandsons.
