Lance GIBERSON

Lance GIBERSON, 77, of Mission, Texas, and formerly of Bentonsport, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017.

In accordance with his wishes, the body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Gifts to a memorial to be determined by the family can be mailed to: Gloria GIBERSON, 625 N. Bentsen Palm Drive, No. 66, Mission, TX 78572.

Mr. GIBERSON was born Jan. 24, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant to Thomas "Hugh" and Helen Pauline KIRK GIBERSON. He married Gloria Jean HOLTKAMP Nov. 6, 1960, at St. John's Catholic Church in Houghton.

Mr. GIBERSON graduated from Stockport High School in 1957.

He worked for Gustafson Brothers Dairy and R and S Bottling in Burlington. He farmed in Van Buren County for a number of years. He left farming and drove for Umthun Trucking, Ruan Corp. and Fruehauf Trailer. He worked for Hamburg Body Shop in Farmington.

In 1984, Mr. and Mrs. GIBERSON moved to Winfield and started their own business, Country Maid Dairies, and were distributors for Swiss Valley dairy products throughout southeastern Iowa. They operated the business until his retirement in 1997.

The couple traveled to Arizona and Texas during retirement until settling in Mission, Texas. They returned to Iowa during summer months.

Mr. GIBERSON enjoyed visiting with people, the warm Texas weather, cars, recreational vehicles and his poodles.

Survivors include: wife Gloria GIBERSON of Mission, Texas; son, Richard GIBERSON of Waukesha, Wiscon; (sic) daughter, Shari (Don) SPILMAN of Ottumwa; sister, Diane BEYERS of Naples, Florida; and one grandson.

He was proceeded (sic) in death by his parents.

Mission TX

Lance Hugh GIBERSON, 77, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Bonaparte, IA. passed away at 5:00 A.M. Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg, Texas. He was born Janaury 24, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to Thomas Hugh and Helen Pauline (KIRK) GIBERSON. He married Gloria J. HOLTKAMP on November 6, 1960, in Houghton, Iowa. He was a member of Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

He is survived by: wife Gloria GIBERSON of Mission Texas, one son, Richard of Waukesha, Wisconsin, one daughter Shari SPILMAN (Don) of Ottumwa, IA, one grandson, Chase SPILMAN, one sister, Diane BYERS (Joseph) of Naples, Florida, and one sister-in-law, Sharon RENO of Burlington, IA. He was preceded in death b y (sic) his parents and one brother-in-law, Marc RENO.

Lance drove several kinds of trucks for a living. He farmed for several years. He had his own business. For 10 years, he had his own dairy distributing business and later worked for Swiss Valley Dairies for about three years. He enjoyed camping for many years and liked going to car and RV lots. He spent time with his three dogs and everyone knew he could out talk almost anyone.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Mass will be held Saturday July 8, 2017, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington with Rev. Dennis Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be held immediately preceding the service beginning at 9:30 A.M. Memorials for the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society may be left at the church or mailed to Gloria GIBERSON, PO Box 325, Bonaparte, IA 52620. Pedrick Funeral Home is assisting the family.
