Iola R. PARSONS, 91, of Richland, died Sunday, morning, March 12, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

Iola Ruth LOCK PARSONS

Iola Ruth LOCK PARSONS died Sunday, March 12, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Woolson Friends Church. Burial wil be at Blue Point Cemetery, followed by a dinner at the church.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church's fellowship hall.

Memorials to Woolson Friends Church or the Sigourney Giedons can be left at the church or mailed to the family at 1128 Ivy Ave., Richland 52585.

Gould Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Mrs. PARSONS was born Feb. 9, 1926, in rural Jefferson County to Frank and Rilla HADLEY LOCK. She married Wayne Russell PARSONS Aug. 10, 1947, at Woolson Friends Church.

She resided in Jefferson County all of her life. She attended Packwood schools. After graduation, she was a teletpye operator at the Dayton, Ohio, Air Force Base during World War II.

She received her teacher's certificate from the State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and taught school at Eddyville and Richland. She was the Richland Library librarian for several years. She was active in the Woolson Church playing the piano for more than 60 years. She belonged to Farm Bureau Women, Blue Point Cloverleaf Club, Richland Women's Club, the Gideon's Women's Auxiliary, and WCTU serving as state president. She enjoyed her family, flowers, reading. She was known for her angel food cakes and quilts she made for her family.

Survivors include: her husband; daughters, Rita EASTMAN (Dennis) of Packwood and Mary Beth PORCH (Ron) of Bradenton, Florida; son, Tim (Nancy) of Richland; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Wilfred LOCK; sister, Mida THOMAS; and one grandson.
