Nellie O. Boese, 86, of Wayland and formerly of Lockridge, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at her home.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lockridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Edward Newman officiating. Burial will be in Lockridge Cemetery in Lockridge.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with family present from 6-8 p.m.

A memorial has been established to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Mrs. Boese was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Queen City, Mo., the daughter of Albert and Zelpha Dale West Gillaspie. She married Howard Eli Boese Sept. 11, 1940, in Ottumwa. He died Nov. 1, 2003.

She attended Washington County rural schools. She lived her married live in the Lockridge area until moving to Wayland in 2003.

She was a homemaker. In addition, she performed domestic services for families in the Lockridge area and cleaned Lockridge Baptist Church for several years. She also was employed by Berg's Drugstore in Lockridge.

Mrs. Boese was a member of Lockridge Baptist Church. She was a member of Rebeka Lodge, Canton Bilow Lodge and Eagles Auxiliary, all in Fairfield.

She enjoyed needlework crafts, gardening and canning.

Survivors include two daughters, Ida Mae Leopard and husband Elbert of Fountain Inn, S.C., and Delores Taylor of Morristown, Tenn.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Francis Gillespie of Mount Pleasant; and one sister, Beatrice Hesser of Wayland.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Alyce Jones and Pauline Hole.
