Dan SIMPSON

James D. "Dan" SIMPSON 47, of Lockridge and formerly of Argyle, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington (note: in Des Moines Co., IA).

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Feb. 17, 2017, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Feb. 17, and the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service.

Memorials can be given to Round Prairie Baptist Church. Online condolences can be directed to www.olsonpowell.com.

James D. "Dan" SIMPSON, 47, of Lockridge and formerly of Argyle, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington (note: in Des Moines Co., IA).

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Kevin Dice officiating.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service.

Mr. SIMPSON was born March 15, 1969, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of L.E. SIMPSON and Carol Ann DALY SIMPSON ATKINSON.

He graduated from Central Lee High School in 1987. He was a 2001 and 2005 graduate of Indian Hills Community College, with Associates of Applied Science degrees. He continued his education receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Technology Management from Buena Vista University in 2010.

He had worked for Motorola, Riverside Paper, Performance Pipe, and at the time of his illness, was an instructor for Indian Hills Community College.

He was a Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed anything automotive including car shows, drag racing, and tools.

He was a member of Round Prairie Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his father of Montrose; his mother of Keokuk; a sister, Susan SIMPSON (John Menke) of Mount Union; a brother, Scott SIMPSON of Stronghurst, Illinois; and his girlfriend, Cathy Wellington of Mt. Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by: a brother, Steve SIMPSON.
