H. Lucille WILLEY

H. Lucille WILLEY, 95, of New London, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at New London Specialty Care (note: in Henry Co., IA).

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London. The Rev. Kathleen Wohlers will officiate. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.

Visitation will begin after noon Friday, with the family receiving friends 4-6 p.m., at Elliott Chapel.

Memorials have been established to New London Specialty Care and Peace Lutheran Church.

Mrs. WILLEY was born Oct. 28, 1921, in Milton, the daughter of Lloyd and Blanche McCLELAND MADDEN. She married Wesley WILLEY Nov. 14, 1942, in Kahoka, Missouri. He died May 6, 2000.

She attended Libertyville schools and was a graduate of Fairfield High School, where she played basketball and was in the choir.

She was a homemaker and was also bookkeeper for her husband's insurance business. Her main focus was her family. She was a member of the New London Bowling League, enjoyed growing roses with her husband, dancing, baking her oatmeal cookies during the holidays, and playing cards and dominoes at the care center. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church at Prairie Grove in West Burlington.

Survivors include: daughters, Connie HAVENER with Don of DeWitt, Karen JOHNSON with Don of New London, and Peg PARKS with Brian, also of New London; son, Wes WILLEY with Marla of New London; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; two sisters, Willa BERANEK and Dorothy MADDEN; two brothers, George LEE and Max MADDEN; one grandson; and one son-in-law Phillip BYRUM.
