Cindy SHONDEL, 65, of Fairfield, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at her home.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. The body will be cremated following visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Women's Circle, ASPCA or Deacons of Church. Online condolences can be made at www.behnerfh.com.
Behner Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Mrs. SHONEL (sic - SHONDEL) was born Nov. 22, 1951, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Raymond and Violetena HARTLEY HECKETHORN. She married Mike SHONDEL April 29, 1967.
Mrs. SHONDEL had lived in Fairfield area for 40 years. She worked at Parkview Care Center as an aide. She was a foster parent and a day care provider.
Mrs. SHONEL (sic) was a member of First Baptist Church and belonged to the Women's Circle. She helped with Awanas and vacation Bible school.
Her pastimes included putting puzzles together, scrapbooking and creating crafts.
Survivors include: her husband, Mike SHONDEL of Fairfield; three children, Mickey CRISWELL with Ted of Fairfield, John SHONDEL with Annette of Winfield, and Penny SISLER of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five siblings, Lucy ELLIOTT, Carol LORD, Laura VOGT, Lennice HAZELWOOD and Gene HECKETHORN.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers, Ed and Sonny; and two sisters, Ann and Mary Louise.
