Ernest Clifford HINKLE, 92, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and formerly of Birmingham, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, in Mountain Home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Birmingham United Methodist Church in Birmingham, with the Rev. Mary Kathryn Hart officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
Visitation with family will be 10-11 a.m. Friday, prior to the service, at the church.
Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family can be left at the church or mailed to the family at 1483 Webber Road, Mountain Home, AR 72653.
Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is handling the arrangements.
Mr. HINKLE was born July 23, 1924, the son of Ernest and Nettie ALLIMAN HINKLE. He married Betty JERREL Aug. 5, 1944.
Mr. HINKLE was a farmer and tire salesman at Ernie's Tire Sales. He was known for his garden and orchard produce named "Leslie's Little Bit of Heaven," which he peddled near and far at farmer's markets.
Mr. HINKLE was an avid storyteller and enjoyed seeing the smiles of those listening. He enjoyed entertaining others with his tenor voice.
He was an active member of Birmingham United Methodist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. HINKLE were foster parents to 30 children and adopted six of them.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty of Mountain Home; two daughters, Viola BICH of Fairfield and Jayne SIMMONS of Mitchellville; his nephew/son, Dennis IVES with Kelly of Mountain Home; and four grandchildren.
He was proceeded (sic) in death by: three sons, Ronald, Wesley and Michael; and one daughter, Leslie.
