Jerry Lee GILL

Jerry Lee GILL, 71, of Eldon, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at his home in Eldon.

A celebration of life service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon. As were Mr. GILL's wishes, the body will be cremated following the service, with burial to be held at a later date.

Visitation will begin at noon Saturday, with the family present from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family. Friends can sign the online guestbook at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com .

Jerry Lee GILL

Jerry Lee GILL, 71, of Eldon, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at his home after a brief battle with cancer.

A celebration of life service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday immediately following visitation. As were his wishes, the body will be cremated following the service, with burial at a later date.

Visitation will begin at noon Saturday, with family present 2-3 p.m. at Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon.

Mr. GILL was born July 27, 1945, in Mt. Pleasant, son of Kenneth H. and Wanda May "SAMMONS" GILL. He married Linda Kay KLETT Dec. 3, 1983, in Fairfield.

He attended school in Keosauqua.

Mr. GILL spent many years running Gill's Bait and Tackle in Fairfield, Batavia, and Eldon.

He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed mushroom hunting, camping, and gardening, but fishing was his all-time favorite.

His pastimes included, in his early years, playing in cribbage tournaments, dart leagues, and dice. Later in life, he worked on the backyard fish pond, tended flower gardens, tinkered in the garage, and spent as much time as he could enjoying family. He enjoyed making everyone laugh.

Survivors include: his wife, Linda of Eldon; one daughter, Ashley GILL of Eldon; four grandchildren; three brothers, Ken GILL of Leeton, Missouri, Richard GILL of Mt. Pleasant and Jim GILL of Warrensburg, Missouri; and one sister, Tanja HOUK of Clinton, Misouri (sic).

He was preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, Randy J. GILL; and one stepson, Stephen C. HACKETT.
