Terry D. DERBY

Terry D. DERBY, 61, of rural Fairfield, died Friday, Jan. 6. 2017, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

The funeral will 10:30 (sic) a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Ottumwa (note: in Wapello Co., IA), with the Rev. Len Maseli officiating. Following the service, cremation will be accorded and burial will be at a later date in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.

Friends can call after 2 p.m. today at Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 5:30-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to First Baptist Church of Ottumwa's youth group, Lockridge Fire and Rescue and American Cancer Association. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.murphyfuneralandmonuments.com.

Mr. DERBY was born Nov. 18, 1955, in Williamsburg, the son of Stanley and Dorothy CARTER DERBY. He married Donna Beth BILLUE Aug. 23, 1974, in Salisbury, Missouri.

Mr. DERBY was very active in many different organizations such as the Jefferson County Pork Producers, Jefferson County Board of Health, Lockridge Lions Club, Iowa Pork Tent Committee, Southeast Iowa Christian Men's Group, Relay for Life, Ottumwa Regional Health Center volunteer.

He was former fire chief of the Lockridge Fire and Rescue, and was a retired partner of Hooter Lane Farms. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ottumwa and was serving as the pastor.

Survivors include: his wife Donna of rural Fairfield; his children, Erin JOHNSON and husband Charlie of Lockridge, Emilie MYERS and husband Brad of Aplington, and Eden DERBY of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers and sisters, Dale DERBY of Hobbs, New Mexico, Roxy MANESS of Boonville, Arkansas, Sharon STEELE of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Karen DERBY of Washington, Iowa, and David DERBY of Hanford, California.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and one brother, Steve SHOEMAKER.
