R. Juanita STONE

R. Juanita STONE, 92, of Fairfield, formerly of Douds and Keosauqua, died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery in Douds (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Friday, with family present 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorials to Hospice Compassus can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 600 Long St., Batavia 52533.

Mrs. STONE was born Nov. 5, 1924, in Hamburg, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles W. and Hazel M. BENNETT BROWN. She married Lonnie STONE Aug. 31, 1941, in Memphis, Missouri. He died in February 2004.

Mrs. STONE grew up in Fairfield and attended Fairfield High School until she was married. After marriage, she and her husband lived in the Douds and Floris areas.

She was a member of Bethel Worship Center in Douds, where she taught Bible school when it was Bethel Methodist Church. She had been a member of the Legion Auxiliary in Douds.

Her pastimes included quilting, bingo, baking and cooking, her rose bushes and spending time with her family.

Survivors include: three sons, Lonnie E. STONE with E'Lynne of Woodburn, Charley STONE with Deb of Batavia and Harley M. STONE of Ottumwa; four daughters, Shirley WHITE with Jack of Troy, Roberta LUDWICK with Butch of Warsaw, Illinois, Cindy BROWN of Keosauqua, and Kathy HUMBLE with Chub of Agency; one son-in-law, Larry GOODWIN of Ottumwa; 23 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: two brothers, Johnny DROZE (sic - DROZ) and Paul BROWN; two sisters, Doris SMITH and Bertha FISHER; two daughters, Mary E. GOODWIN and Carol EHRET; one grandson; and one great-great-granddaughter.
