Richard D. STAGERS

Richard D. STAGERS, 93, of Richland, died Friday morning, Dec. 30, 2016, at his home in Richland.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with Hospice Chaplin (sic) Don Combs officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton (note: in Washington Co., IA).

Visitation will be immediately preceding the service beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials for Richland First Responders or for Hospice Compassus can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 310 W Harrison St., Richland 52585.

Mr. STAGERS was born April 28, 1923, in Douds, the son of Osa and Eva Pearl PERKINS STAGERS. He married Roselle Marie DAVIDSON Dec. 30, 1946, in Washington, Iowa. She died Feb. 1, 2002.

Mr. STAGERS attended Douds grade school and graduated from Richland High School.

He was a part-time farmer and full-time truck driver for 35 years. He drove for John Morrell and Company, Ben Young Farm Market and Adrian Trucking.

Survivors include: five daughters, Marsha SNYDER of Burlington, Bonnie BELL with Jim of Brighton, Jean STAGERS with Chris Frakes of Rubio, Rhonda GORDON with Dave of Washington, and Angela STAGERS of Richland; 14 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; two sisters Donna HARTNELL and LaVada CLARK; one brother, Robert STAGERS; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two sons-in-law, Jim LANDON and Ron SNYDER.
