Linda BRINKER

Linda BRINKER of Muskogee died on December 21, 2016. Linda was born on September 11, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Brice and Harriett GAMBLE. She graduated from Fairfield, Iowa, high school and the University of Iowa where she was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board. Linda married Jerry E. BRINKER on July 3, 1959. Throughout their married life, Linda and Jerry lived in Burlington, VT; Enugu and Ibaden, Nigeria, West Africa; Iowa City, IA; Albuquerque, NM; Tucson, AZ, and Kingston, Jamaica, before moving to Muskogee, OK in 1974 where Dr. BRINKER served as Chief of Laboratory Services at the VA Medical Center. Linda attended NSU where she earned a masters' degree in education. She was a school librarian in Warner, OK as well as Sadler and Creek Elementary schools in Muskogee. Jerry preceded her in death in 1990. Her parents and one brother, Peter GAMBLE, were also precedeased.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Julie, of Denton, TX as well as two sons, Allen D. BRINKER, MD of Rockville, Maryland employed by the Food and Drug Administration and David A. BRINKER, MD who practices pathology in Baltimore, Maryland. Allen and his wife Elizabeth SAFELY have two sons, Samuel and Owen. David and Elizabeth ALLEN, MD, are the parents of two daughters, Julia and Laura.

Linda's family would like to thank the kind and caring staff at Country Gardens Assisted Living Center, where she spent her last year, and her special caregiver, Kay Palmer.

Following cremation, the family will hold a graveside service at a later date at the Waukomis, OK, Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the library or charity of the donor's choice.
