David E. NORDYKE Sr.

David E. NORDYKE Sr., 83, of Agency, died at 9:25 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines (note: in Polk Co., IA).

The body has been cremated.

The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Baptist Church, with the Rev. Phil Griffith officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, with military services conducted by O.B. elson Post No. 3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The family will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Faith Baptist Church.

Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. NORDYKE was born Nov. 12, 1933, in Abingdon, the son of Carl and Maude SMITH NORDYKE. He married Geraldine CREECH Nov. 12, 1959.

A graduate of Packwood High School, Mr. NORDYKE served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for a welding supply company for over 30 years, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and of O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 American Legion.

Survivors include: his wife; three children, David NORDYKE Jr. of Agency, Linda WILKINS and Danny NORDYKE, both of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronnie NORDYKE and Delbert NORDYKE, both of Abingdon; three sisters, Grace SMITH of Agency, Helen JOHNSON of Seattle, Washington, and Mary DAY of Florida.

He was preceded in death by: one daughter, Cheryl CLOKE; one granddaughter; five brothers, Bob, Bill, Richard and infants Kenneth and Walter NORDYKE; and one sister, Babe PERKINS.
