Eva W. Hootman, 92, of 2237 Highway 34, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. James McGaffey officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Fund.

Mrs. Hootman was born June 21, 1912, near Stockport, the daughter of Edgar Lealdis and Edith Crenshaw Philips. She married Fred I. Hootman July 19, 1930, in Fairfield. He died Aug. 29, 1987.

She lived most of her life in the Fairfield community. Her previous residence was in Van Buren County. She was employed by Fairfield Laundry, Fairfield Mitten Factory, Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown and Jefferson County Hospital.

She enjoyed quilting, cooking and attending auctions and garage sales.

Survivors include three sons, Charles E. Hootman and wife Betty of Washington, Iowa, Robert W. Hootman of El Paso, Texas, and James R. Hootman and wife Kathryn of Harrisburg, S.D.; four daughters, Delores Ford and husband Wayne of Mount Pleasant, Dixie Myers and husband Keith of Birmingham, Peggy Hoover and husband Robert of Edwards, Mo., and Karen Iseman and husband Homer of Lebanon, Mo.; 30 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Maynard Philips of Keosauqua; and four sisters, Erma Johnston of Libertyville and Meda Kopsiecker, Treva Greiner and Shirley Baird, all of Fairfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Bill Hootman; and three brothers, Dale, Donald and Doyle Philips.
