Cecile T. GREEN WHITAKER

Cecile T. GREEN WHITAKER, 93, of 405 S. Third St. died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at Parkview Care Center.

The funeral wil be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Kenneth Kent officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery, east of Fairfield.

Open visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or to Fairfield Public Library.

Mrs. WHITAKER was born Dec. 6, 1906, at her parents' home east of Fairfield, the daughter of Dallas and Pearl McCORMICK GREEN. She married Darrell Johnson WHITAKER June 26, 1929, in her parents home.

She graduated from the Fairfield High School and attended Ottumwa Business College. She worked in the office at Harper Brush works. After she was married, they lived in the Bethesda community, where they farmed. She was a member of the Bethesda Methodist Church, where she was the pianist and longtime Sunday school teacher. They moved to Fairfield in 1967.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church; Rebecca branch of the Odd Fellows Lodge; Daughters of the American Revolution, Log Cabin Chapter since February 1968; Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary; Good Cheer Club; several card clubs; and a former member of the Keep Young Club.

Survivors include her husband; and brother-in-law Jack WHITAKER of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Gala HOLGATE and Elsie LENHART.
