Maxine J. Spitznogle, 86, of Muscatine and formerly of Fairfield, died Thursday, Nov. 11, at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine.

The funeral was held Monday. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Muscatine.

Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home in Muscatine was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Spitznogle was born May 5, 1918, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Aubrey and Leona J. Hudsen Barnett. She married Raymond Kilburn July 31, 1937, in Fairfield. She later married Clifford J. Spitznogle July 5, 1968, in Aldeo, Ill. He later died.

She was employed as a button cutter in button factories and later, by Lutheran Homes.

She enjoyed telling stories and jokes and pleasing people.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Kilburn Ashby of Fremont; three sons, Alan Kilburn and wife Mary Lou of Muscatine, Wayne Kilburn and wife Barb of Muscatine and Edwin Kilburn and wife Linda of Wapello; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eloise Hadley of Richland; and one brother, Fred Barnett of Petersburg, Va.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Shirley; two brothers, Delbert Barnett and Bob Barnett; and one sister, Irmalee Maring.
