Garold "Petie" Lee WARREN, 80, of Batavia, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.
No service will be held at this time. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Allerton Cemetery in Allerton (note: in Wayne Co., IA), with burial of cremains.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Alcoholics Anonymous, PO Box 108, Batavia 52533. Cards can be mailed to Marilyn WARREN, 905 Third St., Batavia 52533. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.behnerfh.com.
Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. WARREN was born Feb. 26, 1936, the son of Orville Sr. and Susan TRACY WARREN. He married Marilyn THATCHER Jan. 15, 1958, in Sewal.
Mr. WARREN worked 29 years for Burlington Northern Railroad as a railroad foreman. He liked to help farm and work on tractors, and he was a jack-of-all-trades.
His interests included fishing, playing solitaire and black powder shoots.
He was a member of AA for the past 37 years. He held weekly meetings in his garage for the past 26 years.
Survivors include: his wife, Marilyn WARREN of Batavia; three daughters, Kahla SCHMIDT and husband Fred of Webster City, Tammy COOPER and husband Gary of Milton, and Laura WARREN with Les Cook of Bladensburg; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred MEGONIGLE of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; six brothers; four sisters; and one great-granddaughter.
