Dennie William SMITH

Dennie William SMITH, 65, of Washington, Iowa, died early Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at Washington County Hospital.

A celebration of life will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Lebowski's Rock n Bowl in Washington.

Memorials to the family can be left at the service or mailed to Kristi SMITH at 2469 G Ave., Ladora 52251.

Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is assisting the family.

Mr. SMITH was born April 12, 1951, in Washington, the son of Joseph Oliver and Ruth Ellen VOLGER SMITH.

He grew up in Brighton and graduated from Washington High School in 1969.

Mr. SMITH held many jobs in his life, such as truck driver, barber, and factory worker.

He loved animals and the outdoors, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and golf.

Survivors include: his children, Kristi SMITH and husband Shane of Ladora, and Daniel SMITH and fiancé Tasha Knerr of Washington; two grandsons; two sisters, Connie SHELANGOSKI and Nancy KELLY, both of Brighton; and two brothers, Tim SMITH of Brighton and Jack SMITH of Washington; and special friend, Sandy Walling.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; two sisters, Peggy AMBROSE and Shirley GORDON; and three brothers, Gary, Jerry and Ricky SMITH.
