Dorothy E. CARTER

Dorothy E. CARTER, 94, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 12:58 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at Park Place Elder Living in Mt. Pleasant (note: in Henry Co., IA).

The funeal (sic) will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bryan Katchay officiating. Burial will be in Miller Chapel Cemetery, northeast of Keosauqua (in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation with family will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials to Park Place activities, HCI Hospice or the donor's choice can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 1388 Old Highway 34, Mt. Pleasant 52641.

Mrs. CARTER was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Van Buren County, the daughter of Rex and Iva WALLINGFORD HOOPER. She married Roger N. CARTER June 3, 1939, in Fairfield. He died Nov. 23, 1987.

Mrs. CARTER grew up and attended school in Van Buren County.

During her married years, she lived in Van Buren, Jefferson and Henry counties and most recently in Hillsboro and Mt. Pleasant.

When her sons were younger, she enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, gardening and coffee with friends.

Survivors include: three sons, Gary CARTER and wife Marlene of Mt. Pleasant, Gene CARTER and wife Linda of Hillsboro, and Gale CARTER and wife Marie of Hillsboro; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: an infant son, Roger Jr.; two brothers, Harry and Leo HOOPER; and one grandson.
