Lillian Thornburg
November 08, 2004Lillian Thornburg, 83, of Salem, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Congregational Church, with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in Blakeway Cemetery near Lake Geode.
Visitation began today at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Family will be present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials can be made to New Sweden Lutheran Church in Lockridge.
Mrs. Thornburg was born Oct. 29, 1921, at home in Four Corners, north of Lockridge, the daughter of Earnest and Addie Carlson Aronson. She married Harley Hendricks in 1944. In 1957, she married Carl Thornburg.
She attended grade school at Four Corners and graduated from Lockridge High School in 1940.
Mrs. Thornburg was a member of New Sweden Lutheran Church.
Hobbies were crafts and sewing. She made and sold many Barbie and Ken doll clothes.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Hendricks of Golden, Colo., Dwight Hendricks of Hillsboro and Larry Hendricks of Salem; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Harlen Aronson of Bettendorf; and two sisters, Fern Martin of Fairfield and Evelyn Whiting of Salem.
In addition to her husband Carl, she was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers.
