William L. "Bill" Eastwood, 53, of Wellman died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at home following complications from congestive heart failure.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Ill.

Private family graveside service will be delayed until the return of family members from Iraq.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the memorial service Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Paws & More Humane Society in Washington can be left at the funeral home.

Mr. Eastwood was born Jan. 23, 1951, in Portageville, Mo., the son of Paul and Dorothy Eastwood.

After attending school in Missouri, he served in the United States Marine Corps and later served many years in the Iowa Army National Guard. He was employed by Adrian Trucking in Richland.

He enjoyed animals and spending time with friends.

Survivors include six siblings, Kathie Smith of Washington, Iowa, Karen Gee of Richmond Hills, Ga., Karla Herman of West Des Moines, Karmell Bowen of Coralville, James Bowen of Washington, Iowa, and Kimberly Grote of Dawsonville, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, James Bowen; and one sister, Kara Susan Bowen.
