Sharon JONES EWING, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, and formerly of Fairfield, died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant (note: in Henry Co., IA).
The funeral wil be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Jim Luder officiating.
Visitation will be noon to 7 p.m. Monday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.

Sharon Kay JONES EWING, 67, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Fairfield, died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant.
The funeral wil be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Jim Luder, officiating.
Visitation is from noon until 7 p.m. today at the memorial chapel where, the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.

Mrs. EWING was born March 14, 1949, in Fairfield, the daughter of Hubert Edward and Hazel Irene EWING JONES. She married Lee EWING April 2, 1966, in Fairfield. The couple later divorced.
Mrs. EWING spent her formative years in Fairfield. She earned her GED in 1987, and continued her education at Indian Hills Community College where she received her certificate in bookkeeping.
From 1967-1979, the family lived in southeast Missouri around Dexter and Sikeston. Moving back to Iowa in October 1979, Mrs. EWING lived in various towns in Jefferson, Van Buren and Henry counties. She moved back to Fairfield in 2011.
Mrs. EWING worked as a bookkeeper for Mt. Pleasant Tire & Service for 15 years, retiring from the position in 2006.
She was a member of Friends of Lacey, the Civilian Conservation Corps, and in 2008, became a member of the National C.C.C. Legacy. Her most rewarding experience was in 2010, when the Iowa Hawkeye Chapter of Civilian Conservation Corps was organized, and through a partnership with Friends of Lacey, obtained the "C.C.C. Worker" statue that was dedicated on July 30, 2010, at Lacey Keosauqua State Park.
Mrs. EWING enjoyed crocheting, and made many baby blankets, which were all given away or donated.
She attended Faith Christian Outreach Church and later attended Wellspring Evangelical Free Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Laura TAGLAUER and husband Mark of Brighton, Brenda QUICK and husband Jeff of Fairfield, and Patricia EWING with Tracy Trejo of New London; one son, Douglas EWING with Loni Emery of Ottumwa; two brothers, Robert JONES of Guttenberg, and Mike JONES of Red Wing, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; one sister, Carol MIKSCH; and one brother, Richard JONES.
